White X-Mass

"Oh Mr. Sorohanro, ho ho ho!"

submission: White X-Mass
date: December 24, 2009

Simply beautiful. I really REALLY digged the hip-hop part of this track, even though DnB is more my thing. It just has that jolly christmas feeling. Especially because of the bass.

Sometimes however, the track's a little cluttered. Like there's many things going on and it's not mixed properly. For example, I think the vocals don't have enough low-mids and lows. I know you probably equalised those out for the bass to pop, but the vocals sound violent, instead of soothing. Some sound effects around 1:45 are a nice addition, but they're far off in the background. They sound to 'wide', if you will. No punch, no clarity!

That's pretty much it, though. The composition is brilliant and I'm definately downloading this one!

Overall, I dig. Great job. :-)

Thanx for review.
Well, this is made quite a while ago, fast (and furious) and have a lot of mistakes in the mixing.
Thanx for feedback, maybe I'll remake it (someday)... maybe...

Let the Games Begin (ADC)

"Hell yeah."

date: December 12, 2009

Big choone, lmfao. It was really weird in the beginning, but the dark buildup was sweet. It was distorted, evil and it made me want to choke a bitch, in the good way.

Quite honestly, no criticism. To short though! EXTEND THIS BEAST.

Bangin' track. Good luck in the contest!

Yeah I gotta fix that intro before the build up. Thanx for the analogy, I'll use as a pick up at my next show (;].

"Holy f*#%"

I'm in love with the ambience man. Holy crap, that intro was superb.

Really looking forward to the full version, you two. This is a major tune judging on what I've heard so far. Absolutely no criticism here, just two thumbs in the air.

I demand a PM when the full version's done. :3

Dance 1 ~P~

"Needs moar! But it's quite catchy so far!"

submission: Dance 1 ~P~
date: October 12, 2009

Haha, it's always good to see you submit.

On to the review..

The piano, but of course. It's become your trademark, hasn't It's quite catchy, but I think it should be played an octave higher. The piano melodies in dance tracks are usually higher pitched.

Your transistions are a bit off. The chimes effect wasn't entirely spot on. I suggest throwing in some reverbed and/or delayed reverse crashes for transistions, or make a new synth come in by throwing in a cutoff filter envelope on it before it actually hits. You can replace the cutoff with pitch, volume, etc. Just so it flows into it nicely.

The percussion wasn't really.. there. It's just the kick. :p I think you should layer a nice bassy kick on top of the one you have now, cause it's lacking in the 60-100Hz department. For the rest of the percussion, some simple 4x4 hihats, snares and claps etc, would make this better to dance to. It's good to make a dance song build up and not just 'burst' into the main melody. Always make sure EDM tracks have a proper intro and outro, cause it'll be much easier for potential DJs to play your tracks in sets.

Also, for some extra ambiance and 'feel', you could try throwing in some chorded pads into there that go for bars on end. Just an idea.

One more thing that is seriously lacking and IS needed. A BASSLINE! You forgot the bass! Where is the gritty benni benassi bass? Or the flowing sine-wave subbass? Bass is *extremely* important in dance tracks. Make sure the full version has some!

6.4/10
4/5

It's a nice demo, but it'll require a lot of work before it's a full-fledged dance track. I'm sure you'll do a good job. :-)

[SD] Fallen Temple {D1}

"Oooo, nice."

date: October 5, 2009

Well, you're going for dungeon themes and this one is very fitting to your description. Although this doesn't make me think of Zelda. You know what this makes me think about? Golden Sun. Seriously, you've totally capped the style of that soundtrack and made your own track with it. Some of the synths sound really similar, yet distinguished. Taking that, it has a nostalgic feeling for me without ruining the suspense. Very, very good job.

I personally think there are to many stretched out melodies in this track, some faster-paced melodic work would go well I think.

Percussion is tiiiiiight! That's really outstanding in this track and it's thoroughly mixed. Good job!

Overall, creepy. But not to creepy. Just good for a RPG game so all in all, well done.

Ahh Golden Sun, such a great game. :) I see why it would remind you of that game though, you're right. I'm glad you like the percussion since that took quite some work. Thanks for the review!

Been browsing through you guys' stuff for a while now and I'm really impressed with the overall quality that you KEEP pumping out.

I'd take mistahmoo's advice into consideration. If you ever get the chance, go pro. This stuff is golden.

Only complaint is that it's mastered very softly, something you seem to do with a lot of your tracks. ;o

Rucklo - Fear t. Flight REJECT

"Ehh.."

date: September 13, 2009

Meh, it starts out real good actually. The first few seconds were good, but then you add arps and white noise that TOTALLY sound like Sytrus presets. :-/

I think what would've worked better is some very clear drums over the synth after 8/16 bars and go from there.

Remove that arp. >.<

You've done better. :f

September 13, 2009

Author's Response:

well, all synths are crafted from scratch, so there's your sytrus-presets...

if this woulod have stayed in the game, i most likley would have worked it out a bit more, but meh it was rejected for a reason. :)
